Chandigarh ,– Haryana is rapidly emerging as a new hub of industrial development. The growing interest of companies investing in the state , expansion of Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) and development of modern industrial facilities are creating strong prospects of giving a new impetus to the state’s economy as well as increasing employment opportunities. The industrial areas developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) are now being developed not only as production hubs but as complete industrial ecosystems with industry , trade , logistics and labour facilities.

Commissioner and Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department Dr. Amit Kumar Agarwal said that with the special efforts of Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, industrial investment in the state is continuously expanding which is an indication that Haryana is becoming an important investment destination for the country and global companies. A high-level delegation from Haryana led by the Chief Minister has recently visited Singapore for setting up new industries and foreign investment which will create new employment opportunities in transportation , warehousing , supply chain , maintenance , construction , security , food and beverage and other supporting services along with direct employment.

Investment-friendly environment in six major IMTs

Dr. Amit Agarwal said that six major IMTs have been developed in Haryana. Out of these, IMT Manesar is spread over about 4,000 acres , IMT Rohtak is spread over about 3,600 acres , IMT Bawal is spread over about 3,300 acres , IMT Kharkhoda is spread over about 3,200 acres , IMT Faridabad is spread over about 1,800 acres and IMT Sohna is spread over about 1,500 acres.

In these industrial areas, the government has provided roads , electricity , water , logistics , industrial plots and other necessary facilities to the companies to set up industries, which provide better basis for the companies to operate. In the planned industrial areas, investors have access to land and basic facilities at one place , which facilitates the progress of projects.

These companies are making big investments , Haryana’s development is taking a new shape

He said that companies from various sectors are investing in these IMTs of Haryana. In these IMTs, Maruti Suzuki has invested Rs 18,000 crore on 800 acres of land , ATL has invested Rs. The company is reshaping the development of Haryana through projects worth Rs 7,000 crore in 178 acres , Aditya Birla Group Rs 1,140 crore in 70 acres , Toyota Boshoku Rs 400 crore in 21 acres , Amul Rs 300 crore in 10 acres for milk and dairy products , Denso Rs 570 crore in 37 acres , Flipkart Rs 1,300 crore in 140 acres , Faveli Transport Rs 200 crore in 5 acres , Uflex Rs 300 crore in 14 acres and Uno-Minda Rs 11,000 crore in 94 acres .

Apart from these major companies, many companies including Yamaha , Escorts , Whirlpool , Indian Oil , Asian Paints , JCB , Honda , Harley-Davidson , Sun Pharma , Panasonic , Duracell , Benetton , Hero , Goodyear , DLF , Yokohama , Google , Tata , Nestle , Microsoft , Motorola , Samsung , Osram , Airtel , Sucam and Bharat Electronics are setting up their plans. This clearly shows that investment in Haryana is not limited to just one industry or sector , but industrial activities are developing in various sectors including automobiles , advanced manufacturing , energy storage , rail transport and food processing.

The entire chain of job creation will get incentives .

He said that the impact of any industrial project is not limited to the employees working in the factory. The expansion of industries creates a demand for skilled technical personnel , engineers , machine operators , quality control specialists , administrative staff and other workers.

Along with this, opportunities also arise for those involved in freight forwarding , warehousing , packaging , industrial maintenance , construction work and local supply services. The increasing demand for housing , transportation , markets , health services and other facilities around industrial areas also gives a boost to local economic activities.

Thus, the benefits of industrial investment reach not only large industries but also small and medium enterprises , local entrepreneurs and the service sector. Especially MSME units expand their business by connecting with the supply chain of large companies.

Facilities for investors , better environment for industries

Dr. Agarwal said that the strategy of the Haryana government is not limited to providing industrial land to companies. Emphasis is being placed on developing industrial areas with plug-and-play facilities, clear land ownership, pre-approved industrial land use, single-window assistance and better road connectivity. Ready-made factory sheds , godowns , logistics facilities , employee accommodation , hospitals , commercial centres , skill development centres and startup and incubation facilities are also being made available within the industrial areas.

These facilities are aimed at making it easier for companies to set up and start operations. Meanwhile , facilities like employee accommodation , hostels and public transport are part of the infrastructure to be developed keeping in mind the needs of people working in industrial areas.

Initiatives like hostels for women workers in all major industrial areas , 10 Matar-Shakti crèche networks in industrial areas , common amenity centres and dormitories and single room accommodation for workers have also been developed. Such facilities help in improving living and working conditions around the workplace.

From Kharkhoda to Bawal , industrial network will be expanded

Dr. Amit Agarwal said that there is also a plan to take industrial development to new areas in Haryana. About 5,800 acres for the expansion of IMT Kharkhoda , about 5,000 acres for IMT Kosli , about 2,000 acres for the expansion of IMT Bawal and about 1,500 acres of additional land has been identified for the expansion of IMT Sohna .

Emphasis on skill development along with industries

He said that to create employment opportunities with investment, it is also important to create a skilled workforce as per the needs of the industries. For this, skill development centres , common facility centres , startup support and incubation facilities are being developed. Apart from this , an enabling fund with an initial amount of Rs 500 crore for improving infrastructure in old industrial areas , common facility centres for MSMEs and joint arrangements of concerned departments in industrial areas are also included.
