Senior PCS officer Pooja Syal Grewal of the 2012 batch today assumed charge as the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Patiala. On her arrival at the Municipal Corporation office, Mayor Kundan Gogia warmly welcomed her by presenting a bouquet of flowers and conveyed his best wishes for her new responsibility. Councillors Gyan Chand, Kulwant Singh, and other municipal officials were also present on the occasion. Mayor Kundan Gogia stated that Pooja Syal Grewal is a highly experienced officer who has previously served Patiala with distinction as SDM and ADC. Owing to her extensive administrative experience, she possesses a thorough understanding of the city’s governance and civic requirements.
During the interaction, the Mayor said, “In accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, our primary objective is to make Patiala a clean and model city. With the appointment of the new Commissioner, developmental activities in the city will gain renewed momentum. Keeping the monsoon season in view, the desilting and cleaning of the city’s sewerage system will be expedited. Additionally, priority will be given to repairing streetlights, improving waste management, and ensuring the prompt disposal of legacy waste so that residents can enjoy better civic amenities.”
The Mayor further expressed confidence that, with the support of the new Commissioner, all ongoing development works and pending projects in Patiala would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He added that Pooja Syal Grewal is known for taking prompt and decisive action to resolve public grievances, and that the entire Municipal Corporation team will work collectively towards the city’s progress and development.
