New Delhi: Bollywood’s famous actor Rajpal Yadav has suffered a major legal setback in the cheque bounce case. The Delhi High Court has sentenced him to three months in prison during the hearing on Friday. The court in its judgment termed the actor’s conduct as suspicious and not only sentenced him to imprisonment but also ordered him to pay a fine of ₹7.35 crore.
This case is about 16 years old and it started in the year 2010. According to the information, Rajpal Yadav had borrowed an amount of about ₹5 crore for the production of one of his films. Later, the cheques issued for repayment of the loan bounced, due to which the matter reached the court. After this, a legal battle was going on between the two parties for a long time.
The court said in its order that it is necessary to adopt a strict attitude considering the circumstances of the case and the behavior of the actor. Therefore, he has been sentenced to three months of imprisonment. Also, the court, while fixing the amount of fine, said that this amount should be paid on time.
According to reports, if Rajpal Yadav fails to pay the fine of ₹7.35 crore imposed by the court, his sentence may be further increased. It is being said that in such a situation, the imprisonment period may be increased from three months to six months.
