Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal has announced his support for the ongoing protest by MBBS doctors demanding reforms in the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE). On Thursday, senior AAP leader and former MLA Somnath Bharti met the protesting MBBS doctors at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park in Gautam Nagar, Delhi, to inquire about their well-being. Arvind Kejriwal stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the doctors’ demand for accountability from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences—which operates under the Central Government—is justified. This protest is a fight for the dignity of MBBS doctors, for transparency, and for their future in India.
**AAP Supports the Doctors’ Movement**
Arvind Kejriwal remarked that in a country grappling with a severe shortage of doctors, it is deeply distressing to see thousands of MBBS doctors protesting at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park in Gautam Nagar, New Delhi. These doctors are demanding accountability from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, an entity under the Union Ministry of Health. Thursday marked the eighth day of the hunger strike, yet Dr. Jaswant Yadav continues his peaceful struggle for justice. Standing with him in this movement for FMGE reforms are Dr. Devi Meena and Dr. Shaheen—daughters of India—along with Dr. Aryan Yadav, Dr. Ashish, and Dr. Azam, who are also extending their support.
This is not merely a protest; it is a fight for dignity, transparency, and the future of doctors in India. I find their demands entirely legitimate, and I wish to assure all the protesting doctors that the Aam Aadmi Party fully supports their movement. AAP leader and former MLA Somnath Bharti remains in constant contact with them.
Arvind Kejriwal added that he has also learned that, under pressure from the BJP, the police and the MCD are creating every possible obstacle to hinder their peaceful protest, even though the right to protest peacefully is guaranteed by our Constitution.
