Abchal Nagar residents will get relief from rainwater problem: Dr. Balbir Singh

Patiala , June 1:

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today inaugurated the work of the storm sewer project to be constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh in Abchal Nagar under Ward No. 19 of Patiala Rural . A large number of residents of the area were present on the occasion.

Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to strengthening the infrastructure in every city , ward and village of the state. The government is giving priority to development works keeping in mind the basic needs of the people so that the common people can get relief from the problems faced in their daily lives.

He said that the residents of Abchal Nagar had been raising the problem of water logging in the streets during the rainy season for a long time. To permanently solve this problem, a storm sewer project has been started at a cost of Rs. 45 lakh. Under this project, pipelines will be laid in five streets of the area , which will ensure proper drainage of rainwater and people will get relief from the problem of rainwater.

The Health Minister said that the government’s aim is not to limit development to big cities only , but to take it to every home and every locality. He said that development works are being planned as per the needs and demands of the people and equitable development is being ensured in every sector.

Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab government is continuously striving to improve basic facilities like roads , sewerage , drinking water , health and education. He expressed confidence that the completion of this storm sewer project will provide relief to the residents of Abchal Nagar and improve the overall lifestyle of the area.

The residents of the area thanked the Punjab Government and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh for this development work and said that they used to face a lot of difficulties due to waterlogging during the rainy season. Now with the completion of this project, their long-standing problem will be solved.
