Aam Aadmi Party’s chief spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, has questioned the provisions and conditions of the BJP government’s solar policy. She said that Arvind Kejriwal introduced this solar policy, but the BJP government is merely amending it. Kejriwal’s policy was for residential, industrial, and commercial purposes, but the BJP’s policy only addresses residential areas. Arvind Kejriwal’s policy provided a payment for every unit of electricity produced by installing solar panels, but the BJP has amended it and removed this. The solar policy was also a major step towards reducing pollution in Delhi. Therefore, we demand that the BJP promote Kejriwal’s policy. They may take credit for it, but they should not harm Delhi.
Demand for answer from BJP on change in solar policy
AAP’s chief spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, said that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal introduced a solar policy for Delhi. The amendments made by Rekha Gupta to that policy only address residential homes. It does not address the industrial and commercial sectors, whereas Arvind Kejriwal’s solar policy was for residential, industrial, and commercial sectors alike. The BJP should clarify its stance on this issue.
Priyanka Kakkar explained that Arvind Kejriwal’s policy included a generation-based incentive. Under this policy, anyone installing solar panels was given an incentive for each unit produced, whether the electricity was for personal use, sent back to the grid, or used or not. This helped people earn money, and we were able to attract more people to this policy. This was also a major step towards reducing pollution in Delhi. She asked why the BJP had introduced such conditions and amendments to this policy that would discourage people from installing solar panels. The BJP should give a clear answer to this.
