NEW DELHI | The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly criticised the BJP after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)’s scheduled visit to the residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, which was the official residence of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his tenure was cancelled. AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said the visit was cancelled after the party questioned the presence of people wearing masks who entered the residence in a PWD (Public Works Department) truck at around 11 pm on Saturday. She questioned why they entered the residence under the cover of darkness and said the BJP should explain their purpose. She said the committee’s inspection would have exposed the BJP’s claims about a golden commode, bar and swimming pool inside the residence.
Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters on Monday, AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, “BJP means ‘Bahut Jhoothi Party’ (a very dishonest party).” She said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had held a meeting in 2019 to tell his party karyakartas how to run false propaganda, and the BJP had run a similar campaign in Delhi.
Priyanka Kakkar recalled that the BJP had run a false campaign about former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house, even though Kejriwal had vacated the house at 6, Flagstaff Road on October 4, 2024. “The BJP is completely incapable in terms of work and governance and cannot point to its work in any state. That is why it had to run such a false campaign in Delhi,” she said.
Priyanka Kakkar then showed the media a video and said, “The BJP carried out false propaganda claiming that commodes and sinks with a gold coating were installed inside Arvind Kejriwal’s house. BJP leader Sambit Patra held a press conference and said that there were swimming pools and large mini-bars inside the house. We told the BJP to stop this false propaganda and talk about issues such as education, hospitals or governance. We asked it to discuss what work it had done in its 21-22 states, but its entire politics remained limited to this false campaign.”
The AAP Chief Spokesperson said, “On January 8, 2025, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and then Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj went to 6, Flagstaff Road along with the media. We wanted the entire city of Delhi and the world to see through the media what kind of lies the BJP was spreading.”
However, she highlighted, the BJP deployed police, barricades and water cannons there to prevent anyone from entering the house, because doing so would have caused its entire campaign to fail and exposed all its lies. “When AAP leaders asked where the golden toilet, mini-bar and swimming pool were, the BJP deployed a heavy police force and water cannons to stop just two people, as if they were terrorists,” she noted.
Priyanka Kakkar added, “We tried to expose the BJP’s lies, but they did not allow it to happen because the issues around which their politics revolved were the toilet, swimming pool and mini-bar, none of which actually existed there. Last week, the BJP formed a committee and announced that its delegation would visit 6, Flagstaff Road. We welcomed this because finally the BJP’s lies would be exposed.”
Priyanka Kakkar said that at 11 pm on Saturday, September 12, a PWD truck and some people wearing masks were seen entering 6, Flagstaff Road under the cover of darkness. She asked, “The BJP should answer what the PWD truck and those people wearing masks were going to do inside the house under the cover of darkness and what their intention was.”
Priyanka Kakkar said, “The BJP did not answer this question. Instead of showing the truth, it cancelled its scheduled visit at 3 pm today. The BJP should show the truth to the people and also show how it spent ₹600 crore on renovating the homes of its Union ministers in Lutyens’ Delhi over two years, so that its dirty politics can be exposed.”
Priyanka Kakkar said that even in 2026, the BJP was resorting to false propaganda by placing a toilet seat in Connaught Place, as despite being in power in Gujarat for 30 years, it had no list of schools to showcase. She said that India in 2026 needed to recognise the BJP’s false claims and focus on real issues such as education, electricity, water and roads, which AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had consistently raised.
Priyanka Kakkar concluded by saying, “The manner in which the PWD department’s truck belonging to BJP minister Parvesh Verma and two or three people wearing masks went to 6, Flagstaff Road under the cover of darkness shows what kind of conspiratorial people they are. The BJP should answer this because its lies now need to be exposed.”
