Harjinder Kaur, The daughter of Patiala, who brought glory to the country by winning a silver medal in the women’s 69 kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026, was given a grand welcome by the district administration on her arrival in Patiala today.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal honored Harjinder Kaur by presenting her with a bouquet of flowers and congratulated her on this historic achievement. He said that Harjinder Kaur has made India, Punjab and Patiala proud on the international stage due to her hard work, determination and dedication.
Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said that Harjinder Kaur’s success is an inspiration for the youth of the district. He said that Harjinder has proved that any goal can be achieved with dedication and continuous hard work. He said that the district administration is proud of this achievement of Harjinder Kaur and wished her a bright future.
On this occasion, DC also honored Harjinder Kaur’s parents. Harjinder Kaur thanked the district administration and all the people of Patiala for the love and respect and said that this love will motivate her to perform better in the future. She said that she will make every effort to win more medals for the country in the upcoming international competitions.
On this occasion, Harjinder Kaur’s family members father Sahib Singh, brother Pritpal Singh, District Sports Officer Navjot Singh Dhaliwal, Secretary Red Cross Society Dr. Pritpal Singh, a large number of sports enthusiasts and other officials of the district administration were also present.
It is worth mentioning that Harjinder Kaur has made India proud by winning a silver medal in the women’s 69 kg weightlifting competition in the Commonwealth Games 2026. Earlier, she had won a bronze medal in the 71 kg category in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Apart from this, Harjinder Kaur has brought glory to Punjab and the country by performing brilliantly in many national and international competitions. Her picture has also been installed on the Wall of Fame outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office by the district administration.
