Longowal/Sunam, August 12:
In order to ensure the safety of school children, the district administration is continuously checking school vehicles to ensure compliance with the prescribed safety standards. Under this, school vehicles were checked at Longowal today.
Giving information in this regard, District Program Officer Mr. Pradeep Singh Gill said that the checking team conducted a detailed inspection of the mandatory arrangements related to the safety of children in school vehicles. During the checking, violations like lack of first aid box in various vehicles, non-wearing of prescribed uniform by the driver/staff, absence of lady attendant/conductor and lack of fire extinguisher were found.
In relation to these various deficiencies, a total of 6 challans were issued by taking action as per the rules. The checking team instructed the school administrators and vehicle drivers to keep all the mandatory arrangements prescribed for the safety of children in school vehicles complete at all times.
District Program Officer Mr. Pradeep Singh Gill said that no negligence will be tolerated regarding the safety of school children. He said that the purpose of checking school vehicles is to ensure compliance with the rules as well as to provide safe transportation arrangements for children. He said that such checking will continue in future also and appropriate action will be taken if any violation of the rules is found.
The checking team included District Child Protection Officer Mrs. Nirmal Kaur, Mr. Nirab Singh and Mr. Parminder Singh from the Police Department, Mrs. Beant Kaur and Mr. Rupinder Singh from the Education Department along with concerned officers and employees.
