Kurukshetra, September 23, 2026 : Farmers in Kurukshetra, Haryana, continue to express their resentment over the delay in the commencement of government procurement of paddy. There is a possibility that farmers might attempt to block the GT Road again today. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni) has appealed to various farmer organizations to gather at Shahabad. In light of this, the administration and the police are closely monitoring the situation.
A tense situation had arisen between the farmers and the police on Tuesday. Farmers had moved towards the flyover adjacent to the GT Road, disrupting traffic and causing congestion in the area. Meanwhile, the administration has had the soil cleared from the side of the GT Road flyover to keep the route open and minimize traffic obstruction. The farmers’ primary demand is the initiation of government paddy procurement. All eyes will be on the farmers’ next course of action and the administration’s response today.
