Chandigarh , September 15 – The state government has intensified administrative preparations for the government procurement of paddy in Haryana starting from October 1. In a high-level review meeting chaired by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana, the officials have been directed to ensure comprehensive and adequate arrangements in the mandis across the state so that the farmers do not face any inconvenience in selling their produce.

Senior officials of various departments related to the paddy procurement process including the Agriculture Department , Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation were present in this meeting .

This time also, special technical parameters are being adopted to make the procurement process transparent and to benefit only the genuine farmers. Paddy of eligible farmers will be procured only on the basis of the registered and verified data on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Biura’ portal in the state . Officials informed that gate passes will be issued only after verification of the farmers bringing paddy to the markets through geo-fencing technology. Apart from this , the final procurement of the crop will be approved only after the details of the crop registered by the farmer on the portal and the fixed average yield of the concerned area are matched.

The Agriculture Minister clarified that the entire system, from the issuance of gate passes to the weighing and sale of the crop to the payment directly reaching the farmer’s bank account, should be simple and transparent.

Along with the current paddy procurement arrangements, the Agriculture Minister also directed for advance preparations for the upcoming Rabi season , especially for the sowing of wheat. He directed the officials to ensure that the farmers do not face any shortage at the time of sowing , so that stocks of essential fertilizers like Urea and DAP should be kept ready in advance and timely availability of high quality certified seeds should be ensured.
