Ludhiana: Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) talented player Joypreet Singh Sidhu has been selected in the Indian national basketball team for the FIBA U-18 Asia Cup 2026. This prestigious tournament will be held from 13 to 23 August 2026 at Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, Naranpur, Gujarat.
Punjab Basketball Association President and former DGP R. S. Gill and General Secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal congratulated Joypreet on his selection and termed it a matter of pride for Punjab and Ludhiana. They said that it is the result of Joypreet’s hard work, dedication and excellent guidance of head coaches Jaipal Singh and Jaspreet Singh that he has made it to the Indian team. They said that the selection process of Basketball Federation of India (BFI) is very tough and being selected in it is a big achievement.
Joypreet was earlier part of the Indian team that won the gold medal in the Asia Cup South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) qualifiers held in Sri Lanka. Apart from this, he also played an important role in the team that won the silver medal in the 75th Junior National Basketball Championship. On Joypreet’s selection, District Basketball Association officials J.P. Singh, Brij Goyal, Lomesh Chadha, Vijay Chopra, Coach Ravinder and Saloni along with many sports lovers wished him well. Former international basketball player Parminder Singh Heer expressed confidence that Joypreet will bring glory to the country and Punjab by performing brilliantly in the Asia Cup.
