Aam Aadmi Party State Organisation General Secretary Manojbhai Sorathiya, while announcing the first list of candidates in connection with the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections, stated that the municipal corporation election in Gandhinagar has been announced. We all also know that in the very Gandhinagar, which is the centre of Gujarat and from where the administration of the entire Gujarat is carried out, there is ‘Diye Tale Andhera’ like situation. The people here are deprived of basic facilities, and the way haphazard constructions are taking place within Gandhinagar, the people in power have worked to sell the beauty that Gandhinagar once had. This small municipal city, which is facing numerous problems, has a name on the world stage, but instead of world-class city facilities, numerous issues for the citizens of Gandhinagar have always emerged before us. The people of Gandhinagar are facing numerous problems. He further added that at that time, the Aam Aadmi Party had also contested the election five years ago to provide Gandhinagar with an alternative. And when the Aam Aadmi Party contested the election for the first time, the people of Gandhinagar gave an opportunity to one Aam Aadmi Party councillor with around 21 percent of the votes. Last time, when the Bharatiya Janata Party, not by bringing the mandate of the people across Gujarat and the country, but by stealing, accommodating and luring members who had been elected on the mandate of the people, has been pursuing its politics, it is a matter of pride for us that despite the only councillor of the Aam Aadmi Party being elected, the Bharatiya Janata Party could neither lure him, nor suppress him, nor buy him. In the role of a strong opposition, the Aam Aadmi Party has performed its duty in Gandhinagar over the last five years. He further stated that in such a situation, we are fully confident that in this municipal corporation election, when the people are demanding change and the Aam Aadmi Party is going to strongly contest this municipal corporation election, the Aam Aadmi Party has made a start today before all the other parties.
Manoj Sorathiya stated that we are going to declare our 23 election candidates through today’s press conference. The Aam Aadmi Party has always worked to provide a platform for common people, youth and women in Gujarat. The Aam Aadmi Party has worked to bring citizens who are not in mainstream politics into mainstream politics, and today it has emerged as a strong party in Gujarat, as a party of ordinary people as well as educated people. Even today, as we are going to make this announcement, the Aam Aadmi Party has worked to give opportunities to youth, including doctors, lawyers, MBA graduates and social workers. According to the first list announced by Aam Aadmi Party – Gujarat for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election, Baldevbhai Patel and Vijaysinh R. Vaghela are contesting from Ward No. 1. In Ward No. 3, Shreya Bakulkumar Makwana, Pinky Rajput and Bharatbhai Joshi have been selected as candidates. From Ward No. 5, Parvatiben Nagarbhai and Jitendra Dharawadia are contesting the election. From Ward No. 6, Parvatiben w/o Gopal Vasava, Pattani Sonaben Mahendrabhai (Devipujak), Tushar Parekh, Melabhai Bhalodia, from Ward No. 9, Manisha Pavitra Parmar, Mehul Kumar Shankarbhai Shrimali and Vivek Shivabhai Patel are filing their candidature. From Ward No. 7, Rahul Vaghela and Suresh Patel are candidates. From Ward No. 8, Devyani Rathod, Dharmeshbhai Thakor and Gautambhai Parmar are contesting the election. From Ward No. 10, Parekh Jay Shaileshbhai (Angel Masi) and Dr. Hardik V. Talati have been announced as candidates. Also, from Ward No. 11, Kailashben Parmar and Rajeshwariben Solanki have been selected.
AAP leader Manoj Sorathiya further stated that the Aam Aadmi Party has announced a total of approximately 23 candidates today. The party is also conducting scrutiny of the remaining candidates. These candidates have been announced today with the permission of the party, and we will announce the remaining candidates shortly. We are confident that the Aam Aadmi Party is fully committed to changing Gandhinagar, and for the educated people living in Gandhinagar who expect civic services and the urban facilities expected within an urban municipal corporation. Yesterday, we also announced our manifesto. We have a definite resolve regarding Gandhinagar. We are committed to the work that the Aam Aadmi Party wants to undertake in Gandhinagar and our determination to make it a world-class city. From today itself, the Aam Aadmi Party will put all its strength into ensuring that Gandhinagar remains fully developed, and we hope that the youth take charge of the governance of Gandhinagar.
