Patiala, June 17
Taking serious note of the delay in the ongoing civil development works within the limits of the Municipal Corporation Patiala and the negligence being shown by the contractors, the Honorable Mayor Kundan Gogia has issued strict instructions in writing to the Superintending Engineer. The councillors have brought to the notice of the Mayor that despite several work orders issued for civil works since April 2022, many development works have not yet been started on the spot or have been left incomplete in between, which is directly affecting the general public of the city.

Mayor Kundan Gogia ordered that the firms whose contractors have delayed in starting the work within the stipulated time or have not completed the work on the spot, should be debarred with immediate effect and the action of confiscating their deposit i.e. EMD should be taken. He clarified that negligence in public works will not be tolerated at any cost and only firms that work honestly and on time will be given priority in the corporation.

Taking this administrative action forward, the Mayor has directed the Superintending Engineer (Civil) to submit a complete list of all work orders issued from April 2022 till now, names of the firms concerned, date of issue, work deadline, reasons for delay and current status of those projects to the Mayor’s office as soon as possible. Based on this report, the next major legal and administrative action will be taken against the defaulting contractors.
