Patiala, August 5:
Under the leadership of Patiala Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia, a highly commendable and unique initiative has been undertaken to safeguard the dignity, welfare, and interests of retiring employees. It is commonly observed that after retirement from government or public service, employees often have to wait for months and make repeated visits to government offices to receive their gratuity, provident fund, and other retirement benefits. However, through the efforts of Mayor Kundan Gogia, this long-standing practice has been transformed into a new benchmark at the Patiala Municipal Corporation.
As part of this initiative, Mrs. Bimla, a sanitation worker retiring from the Municipal Corporation, was presented with a gratuity cheque of ₹19.76 lakh by the Mayor on the very day of her retirement. Receiving her rightful retirement benefit on the last day of service brought immense joy to the employee and her family, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Municipal Corporation administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Kundan Gogia said that employees who have devoted the valuable years of their lives to serving the Municipal Corporation and the city should not have to run from office to office after retirement to claim their rightful benefits. He stated that the Corporation is committed to completing all necessary documentation well before an employee’s retirement so that gratuity and other financial benefits can be released on the very day of retirement. This initiative will ensure that retired employees do not face any financial or administrative hardship.
The special event was attended by Municipal Councillors Gurkirpal Singh and Gyan Chand, who joined Mayor Kundan Gogia in honouring the retired sanitation worker with flower garlands and a memento in recognition of her dedicated service. They also wished her a long, healthy, and prosperous life.
