NEW DELHI | Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh urged people across the country to raise their voices against the Modi government’s dictatorship and unite to protect their votes and democracy. He said the right to peaceful protest was secured through the sacrifices of revolutionaries and the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar, not granted by PM Narendra Modi or Mohan Bhagwat. He called on citizens to protest against vote theft and defend democracy wherever they are, whether in a village, town or city.
On Monday, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “Delhi, the national capital, has become a centre of oppression under PM Modi. People are being subjected to this oppression because the government wants to protect a vote thief. Gyanesh Kumar, who has helped PM Narendra Modi steal governments, has stolen 13 crore 37 lakh votes. To protect him, PM Modi has deployed one lakh police personnel across the country.”
Sanjay Singh further said, “In Delhi, young girls are being beaten, while BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) goons are tearing women’s clothes in broad daylight on the streets, in the presence of the police. Senior journalist Pragya Mishra was dragged like an animal and arrested despite showing her press card. Shyam Meera Singh, a strong voice in journalism, was seized and dragged away, while self-proclaimed Hindu organisations misbehaved with him.”
He continued, “Even after taking him into custody, the police beat him inside a bus. Several senior journalists from The Indian Express have also been beaten. Everything happening in Delhi is taking place at the behest of dictator Modi. The public must respond to this and raise its voice against it.”
The AAP MP said that if people believed vote theft threatened democracy and the Constitution, they should raise their voices from whichever village, city or district they were in against vote theft, the murder of democracy, police hooliganism and dictatorship. “The right to assemble peacefully and hold sit-ins and protests had not been granted by Narendra Modi or Mohan Bhagwat,” he asserted.
Sanjay Singh concluded by adding, “Rather, it had been secured through the sacrifices of revolutionaries and was guaranteed under Articles 19(1)(a) and 19(1)(b) of the Constitution written by Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Therefore, everyone must exercise this right to defend democracy and raise their voices against vote theft.”
