Dhuri, May 28:
Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation, Dalvir Singh Dhillon, on Tuesday strongly condemned the conduct of Union Minister of State and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu during his visit to Dhuri amid the Municipal Council elections, terming it “deeply inappropriate and irresponsible.”
Referring to widely circulated videos on social media, Dhillon alleged that Bittu misbehaved with personnel of the Punjab Police. He said such actions reflect an authoritarian approach and are not in line with democratic values.
“Punjab is known for its courage and dignity. Its people neither fear threats nor yield to pressure,” Dhillon said, adding that the Punjab Police is among the most professional and respected forces in the country. “Derogatory remarks against the police are not only condemnable but also an affront to the entire state,” he added.
He further criticised what he described as divisive and irresponsible politics, alleging that attempts are being made to polarise society along religious and social lines. “Such rhetoric is harmful to Punjab’s social harmony and law-and-order environment,” he said.
Issuing a strong warning, Dhillon said that the people of Punjab will not tolerate any attempt to vitiate the state’s atmosphere. “Those indulging in such actions will face a firm response from the people,” he asserted.
Reiterating his support, Dhillon said that the entire state stands firmly with the Punjab Police and backs every officer discharging duty with integrity. He also urged Ravneet Singh Bittu to refrain from such conduct and maintain the dignity expected of a public representative.
