As per the instructions of Election Commission of India, New Delhi, the Roll Observer for District Patiala appointed by the Hon’ble Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Shri Vinay Bublani, IAS, Commissioner, Patiala Division, Patiala, visited Assembly Constituency 115-Patiala to inspect the process of correction of voter lists under SIR-2026 going on in the state of Punjab. During this, he made a detailed review of the process of correction of voter lists. On
this occasion, the Roll Observer held a meeting with the Electoral Registration Officer, Supervisor Officers and election staff of Assembly Constituency 115-Patiala. Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate, 115-Patiala Shri Gurdev Singh Dhamma, PCS. Welcoming the Roll Observer, detailed information was given about the action taken so far under SIR-2026.
Mr. Gurdev Singh Dhamma said that the entire process is being carried out in a transparent and orderly manner as per the time frame and guidelines set by the Election Commission.
Mr. Vinay Bublani, while reviewing the progress of notice stage, claims and objections received, their disposal and verification of voter lists, said that the main objective of SIR-2026 is to prepare clean, accurate and error-free voter lists. He instructed the supervisor officers and election staff to ensure that the name of every eligible voter is included in the voter list and the name of no ineligible person is included in the voter list.
He said that the claims and objections received will be disposed of by October 8, 2026, while the final voter list will be published on October 12, 2026. He said that for any information regarding voter services or SIR-2026, apart from the concerned helpdesk, the voter helpline number 1950 can also be contacted.
On this occasion, Mr. Gurdev Singh Dhamma, PCS, Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mr. Mukilan R., IAS, OSD (Urban Affairs), Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Tehsildar Elections, Miss Preeti Sharma, Election Kanungo, Mr. Gurdev Singh, Election Incharge along with other officers and employees were present.
