Safe Food will MZake Punjab Colorful – Health Minister

Patiala, July 30:
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today attended the Food Safety Seminar organized at Hotel Shaurya on the topic “Rangla Punjab is our shared responsibility – Safe and nutritious food, the basis of good health” as the chief guest. This seminar was organized in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner Patiala, Civil Surgeon’s Office and Food Safety Department.
Addressing the seminar, Dr. Balbir Singh said that “Jaisa Ann, Vaisa Man” is not just a proverb, but the basic mantra of a healthy life. He said that just as clean air and clean water are essential for human health, similarly safe, nutritious and quality food is also an important basis for a healthy life.
He said that to realize the dream of ‘Rangla Punjab’ being created by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, it is the main need of the hour to create awareness among the people about healthy eating and drinking. With this aim, such awareness seminars are being continuously organized by the state government.
The Health Minister said that experts from the Agricultural University, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) and farmers practicing natural and organic farming participated in this seminar. He said that these institutions will make the younger generation aware about the importance of chemical-free and organic food in coordination with each other. He said that farmers practicing organic farming avoid the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which produces healthy and quality food grains.
Dr. Balbir Singh appealed to the people to adopt natural and organic food as much as possible and said that the foundation of a healthy society rests on safe food. He also said that the Health Department regularly inspects food business operators and vendors selling food and beverages so that quality and safe food is available to the people and any kind of adulteration or substandard food can be prevented.
On this occasion, Food Safety Commissioner Kanwalpreet Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Dean COCS Kiran Bains, VCPAU Dr. SS Gosal, VC Gadwasu J. S. Gill, Mr. Rajveer Singh from Pingalwara, Chairperson PPCB Miss Reena Gupta, Ravneet Kaur, NGO Miss Pragati, Organic Producer Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Kheti Virasat Mission Mr. Umendra Dutt, Sarpanch Kansua Mr. Harpreet Singh, CEO Chairs Food and Beverages Mr. Harendra Pal Singh Lamba, District Health Officer Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shelly Jaitley, officers of various departments, experts, farmers and other dignitaries were present.
