SIR-2026: Dr. Himanshu Agarwal Holds Meeting with Political Parties

Patiala, August 13:
A meeting was held with the district presidents/representatives of all recognized political parties of Patiala district under the chairmanship of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal regarding the notice stage of SIR-2026 and the disposal of claims and objections. On this occasion, a set of draft photo voter list of each assembly constituency of Patiala district was made available to the district presidents/authorized representatives of all recognized political parties. Apart from this, a DVD containing draft voter list without photo of each assembly constituency was also provided. Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuprita Johal and Election Tehsildar Vijay Kumar Chaudhary were also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, the representatives of the political parties were given detailed information about the process of issuing notices under the notice stage and their disposal, receipt, verification and disposal of claims and objections along with the stipulated time frame.
The District Election Officer said that the representatives of political parties can check the draft voters list and bring any deficiency, error, omission of names or other objections/issues to the notice of the concerned ERO or District Election Office as per the prescribed procedure and time limit.
He said that eligible persons can submit Form No. 6 and requisite declaration form from 13th August to 12th September to enroll as new voters on the basis of eligibility date of 01st October 2026. Similarly, Form 6A for NRI voters, Form 7 for deletion of name and Form 8 for correction of details or change of address can also be submitted during this period.
Apart from this, a special camp will be organized on 16th August 2026 at all polling stations of Patiala district. During these camps, voters will be able to submit Form No. 6, 7 and 8 to the concerned BLOs. He said that voters can fill Form No. 6, 7 and 8 online at voters.eci.gov.in as per their convenience or can submit these forms offline to their respective booth level officer. Voter card, voter services and SIR. For information or assistance regarding the process, the voter helpline number 1950 can also be contacted. Representatives of Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal, INCP, BSP, Bharatiya Janata Party were present on this occasion.
