“Late Bapu S. Ajit Singh Toor was a very affectionate, loving and religious person who lived his entire life with honesty and simplicity.” These sentiments were expressed by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, on the occasion of the last Ardas and tribute ceremony of late S. Ajit Singh Toor at the historic Gurdwara Shri Moti Bagh Sahib today. On this occasion, Vairagyamayi Kirtan was performed by the Jatha of former Hazuri Ragi Bhai Ravinder Singh of Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, while Ardas was performed by Head Granthi Bhai Harvinder Singh.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Ajit Singh Toor, father of Mr. Tarlok Singh Toor, husband of Biba Manpreet Kaur, sister of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, passed away at the age of about 80 after a brief illness. At his last prayer, Chief Minister’s mother, Sardarni Harpal Kaur, along with Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party State President Aman Arora, Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Hardeep Singh Mundian, State General Secretary Baltej Singh Pannu, Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh, along with a large number of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, other leaders, relatives and close associates, as well as a large number of political, religious and social figures paid tribute to the late Mr. Ajit Singh Toor.
Paying tribute to the departed soul on behalf of Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that Bapu Mr. Ajit Singh Toor lived his entire life with simplicity and religious inclinations, working for the welfare of the people. She said that Bapu Ajit Singh’s friendly nature and simple life will always be a source of inspiration for his family and those who came in contact with him. She prayed to God to give the family the strength to bear this loss and grant eternal rest to the departed soul at His feet.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, thanking the entire congregation on behalf of the family, said that the loss of a father is extremely painful for the family. The untimely demise of Bapu S. Ajit Singh Toor has left a huge, irreparable loss for the Toor family. She said that S. Tarlok Singh Toor and Bibi Manpreet Kaur Toor served their father with complete dedication and devotion, which even today is an example of respect and service to parents.
He said that even though in today’s times it is often heard that the tradition of serving and taking care of the elderly is diminishing, but the Toor family has proved this notion wrong by serving their father and has set an example.
On this occasion, late S. Ajit Singh Toor’s wife Sardarni Harjeet Kaur Toor, daughter Jasveer Kaur, grandsons Maninderpal Singh and Sukhwinderpal Singh, granddaughter Navjot Kaur, grandson’s husband Gurpreet Singh, great grandson Harsanjog Singh and a large number of family members and friends were present.
