Ghanaur, June 9:
As part of the efforts being made by the Punjab Government for the welfare of farmers and the development of the agricultural sector, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Mr. Gurmit Singh Khudian and MLA Mr. Gurlal Ghanaur provided the last installment of financial assistance of about Rs. 86 lakh as compensation to 227 beneficiary families of farmers during a special function at Grain Market Ghanaur. During the function, compensation cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries and the process of transferring the amount to their accounts was also started. Chairman Punjab Mandi Board Harchand Singh Burst, Chairman Market Committee Jarnail Singh Mannu, Chairman Inderjit Singh Sialu were also present with them.
On this occasion, the foundation stone for the construction of the new building of Market Committee Ghanaur was also laid. This building, which will be built at a cost of about two crore rupees, will prove to be helpful in providing better facilities to farmers, arhtiyas and other concerned parties. Apart from this, other works related to the development of the area were also inaugurated.
On this occasion, Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudiyan said that the present government is giving priority to pro-people policies and is continuously working for the welfare of every section. He said that sports competitions are being organized in the state to promote sports, while health facilities worth Rs 10 lakh are being provided under the Health Insurance Scheme. Apart from this, schemes like free electricity for domestic consumers are also giving great relief to the people.
Speaking about the development works of the constituency during the function, Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that various projects are being worked on to strengthen the infrastructure in the area. In particular, funds have been released for the improvement of roads and construction of new roads, which will make the transportation of villages and urban areas more smooth.
On this occasion, MLA Gurlal Ghanaur expressed his gratitude and said that continuous efforts are being made for the all-round development of the constituency and the basic needs of the people are being fulfilled on priority basis. He informed that the last installment of about Rs 86 lakh as compensation to 227 families of farmers is being transferred into their accounts, which will provide great relief to the affected families. He said that the government is fully committed for the welfare of the farmers and their economic strength.
The MLA, while mentioning the ongoing development works in the constituency, said that special attention is being paid to the improvement of roads, public facilities and infrastructure. He thanked the Punjab Government for providing the necessary funds for the construction of clean and strong roads. He said that the pace of development works will be further accelerated so that better facilities can reach every village and urban area of the constituency. He assured that the same continuous work will be continued in the future for the development and public welfare of the constituency, living up to the expectations of the people.
