Patiala, June 17, Punjabi University, Patiala, with the approval of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh Ji, is organizing the 53rd All India Dravidian Linguists Conference from June 18 to 20, 2026 with the special collaboration of Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore (Karnataka) and I.C. S. S. R. New Delhi. The conference is being jointly organized by the Department of Punjabi, Department of Linguistics and Punjabi Lexicography, Punjabi Linguistics Association Patiala, Dravidian Linguistics Association and International School of Dravidian Linguistics Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala).
Regarding this conference, the Organizing Secretary of the conference and Head of the Punjabi Department of Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Rajwant Kaur Punjabi said that the conference will be inaugurated on June 18 at 10 am at the Senate Hall of Punjabi University. In the beginning, Dr. Rajwant Kaur Punjabi will welcome the conference, after which Dr. Bhupinder Singh Khaira, President of Punjab Linguistics Association, will discuss the conference in detail and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh will deliver the presidential address. During this, former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu University, Professor K. Karunakaran will be the special guest, while Professor of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, M.J. Warsi will read his keynote address. Meanwhile, ISDL Director G.K. Panicker will deliver the V.I. Subramaniam Centenary Lecture. At the end of the inaugural session, Dean Academic Affairs of the university, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Brar will deliver the vote of thanks.
During the first academic session, the Head of the Department of Linguistics, Delhi University, Dr. R.C. Sharma will deliver the ‘Prof. V.I. Subramaniam Memorial Lecture’, the Head of the Department of Linguistics, Deccan College, Poona, Prof. Suhnu Ram Sharma will deliver the ‘Prof. K. Mahadeva Shastri Memorial Lecture’ and the Vice-Chancellor of Chitkara University, Dr. Jaitegh Singh Khaira will deliver the ‘Prof. Nagamma Reddy Memorial Lecture’. The stage manager will be the Head of the Department of Punjabi Linguistics, Dr. Harvinderpal Kaur. Prominent personalities associated with linguistics and other fields are also participating in this important conference in the coming days.
