12th International Day of Yoga celebrated in iconic monuments in Punjab and Haryana

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Chandigarh Circle, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (Theme-Yoga for Healthy Ageing) on 21st  June 2026 at several centrally protected monuments and heritage sites in Punjab and Haryana. These 04 venues include Bathinda Fort, Bathinda, Shamsher Khan’s Tomb, Batala, District Gurdaspur, and Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial, Amritsar in Punjab and Ruined Qila (Prithviraj Chauhan’s Fort), Hansi, District Hansi. In addition, the IYD 2026 is also celebrated at other protected monuments like Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb, Thanesar, District Kurukshetra, Jal Mahal, Narnaul, District Mahendragarh, Masonry Tank, Surajkund, Faridabad in Haryana under ASI, Chandigarh Circle.

In the 04 above mentioned monuments, the programme commenced at 6:30 AM with the live telecast of the address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, attended by participants, yoga instructors, chief guests, ASI officials, staff members, students, and general public.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) under the guidance of trained yoga instructors.

In the International Day of Yoga programme at Bathinda Fort, Bathinda, Punjab 250 persons participated where Mr. Padamjeet Singh Mehta , Hon’ble Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda was the Chief Guest.

In the IYD 2026 celebration at Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial, Amritsar, Sh. Sukumar Mukharjee, Secretary Jallianwala Bagh Trust was the Guest of Honour. More than 250 person actively participated in the programme which include ASI staff, members of organizations like Parjapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya and Dr. Yoda and local public.

In the IYD 2026 celebration at Shamsher Khan’s Tomb, Batala, District-Gurdaspur, Punjab, Shri Amansher Singh (Shery Kalsi), M.L.A., Batala was the Chief Guest. More than 250 persons including the ASI staff, members of Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan, Batala and local public participated in the Yoga programme.

In the 12th International Yoga Day at Ruined Qila (Prithviraj Chauhan’s Fort), Hansi, District Hansi, Haryana more than 200 persons participated. Shri Parvin Allawadhi, Chairman, Municipal Council, Hansi was the Chief Guest and Retired Captain Bishamber Singh and Retired Hav. Surat Singh were the Guests of Honour.
