Punjab: The Punjab government has taken a big decision regarding school students. In fact, the Punjab government has taken a historic step to permanently end the arbitrariness and looting done by unaided educational institutions of Punjab in the name of fees and funds every year.
The Punjab government has now put a stop to this illegal looting and has banned the increase in fees. Now any private or unaided educational institution in Punjab will be able to increase fees by only five percent (5%) every year, it will not be allowed to increase fees more than this. Apart from this, if any school has increased fees by more than 15 percent during the last 36 months, then it will have to immediately refund the money to the parents. This decision and rules will be applicable to all Punjab School Education Board, CBSE, ICSE and International Boards.
Application will have to be submitted before increasing fees
The Punjab government says that if a school wants to increase fees by 5 percent, then a committee has been formed for it. Schools will have to apply 6 months in advance to increase fees. Not only this, schools will have to get their financial audit done and will be told why the fees have been increased.
Penalty will be imposed for breaking the rules
According to the orders of the Punjab government, if fees are increased arbitrarily up to class 5, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed for the first time and Rs 1 lakh for the second time, for increasing fees up to class 8, a fine of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed for the first time and Rs 3 lakh for the second time, for increasing fees up to class 12, a fine of Rs 5 lakh will be imposed for the first time and Rs 5 lakh for the second time. However, if the schools violate the rules for the third time, the school’s recognition will be withdrawn.
The Punjab government has approved it and sent it to the Governor for signature and it will be released today itself. It is being told that this rule has been implemented permanently in the entire Punjab from today and it will be made a law when the next session of the Vidhan Sabha comes. With this decision, trade and illegal loot in the name of education will be stopped forever and the future of the children of Punjab will be secure.
