While assessing the road safety and traffic management in Patiala district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Navreet Kaur Sekhon instructed the departments to work with mutual coordination to reduce road accidents during the meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) today.
ADC reviewed important road engineering projects related to Khanda Chowk, Old Bus Stand-New Bus Stand Road, Gagan Chowk, Rajpura and other accident-affected places. They instructed relevant departments to expedite the pending works and implement timely decisions taken in previous meetings.
The meeting emphasized on better parking arrangements, regularization of e-rickshaws, installation of no-entry notice boards for heavy vehicles, removal of illegal occupations and strict action against violators of traffic rules. In addition, the provisions submitted under Mission Clean Patiala City were also discussed.
During this, progress of implementation of Safe School Vehicle Scheme, Road Safety Mitra Scheme, Zero Fatality District Programme and E-DAR Accident Reporting System were also assessed.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to ensure strict adherence to road safety guidelines, update accident-related data in a timely manner, and work with mutual coordination to reduce the rate of road accidents.
Navreet Kaur Sekhon said that the mutual coordination between the municipality and the traffic police is essential for the construction of safer roads, so that the roads of Patiala can become safer for every citizen.
Apart from Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Manreet Rana, RTO Dr Poonampreet Kaur, ATO Manjot Singh, SP Traffic HS Mann representatives of various social service organizations were present on the occasion.
