Chandigarh, July 18, 2026 : The Punjab School Education Department has launched a special statewide campaign to improve the accuracy and reliability of student records in government schools. Under the initiative, all government school heads have been directed to verify and update the contact details and residential addresses of every student’s parents or guardians on the M-Star app by July 24.
According to instructions issued by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab, schools must verify the mobile numbers of both parents or guardians, wherever available, for each student. The department has made it clear that the verification process must be completed within the stipulated deadline without exception.
In another major directive, the department has made it mandatory for every government school in Punjab to maintain an active presence on at least one official social media platform. Schools are required to operate an official account on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram.
Schools that already have official social media accounts have been instructed to submit their account details through the designated web form. Those that do not yet have an official account must create one and submit the required information to the department by July 20.
The department has also advised schools to regularly share updates through their official social media handles, highlighting students’ achievements, teachers’ accomplishments, innovative educational activities, School Management Committee (SMC) initiatives, and other significant school events.
In directions issued to District Education Officers, Director General School Education, Punjab, M.K. Arvind Kumar, instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with these guidelines across all government schools under their jurisdiction and to complete the entire process within the prescribed timeline.
