Documentary on Sri Guru Ravidas Ji’s Life Screened in 86 Villages of Patiala: Deputy Commissioner

Patiala, July 20: As part of the Punjab Government’s celebrations marking the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, a special documentary highlighting the revered saint’s life, philosophy, and teachings has been screened in 86 villages across Patiala district, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said on Sunday.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the documentary is currently being screened in eight villages every day, with residents enthusiastically attending the screenings and drawing inspiration from Guru Ji’s message of equality, social justice, devotion to God, and universal brotherhood.

Dr. Agarwal said Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann flagged off the special awareness vans from Sangrur. These mobile units are carrying a 30-minute documentary to villages across the Nabha, Samana, Sanaur, and Rajpura blocks to spread the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj.

During the latest round of screenings, the documentary was shown in Joginder Nagar and Bakraha villages in Samana block, Chhitanwala and Himmatwala in Nabha block, Khuda in Sanaur block, and Nalas Khurd and Kotla in Rajpura block. Large numbers of villagers attended the screenings and appreciated the initiative.

Highlighting the significance of the campaign, Dr. Agarwal said the Punjab Government is celebrating the 650th Parkash Purb with great devotion and enthusiasm. He added that the documentary has been specially produced to carry Guru Ji’s timeless teachings to every corner of the state.

He further said that the documentary will be screened in every village of Patiala district, ensuring that people from all sections of society, particularly the younger generation, gain a deeper understanding of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj’s life, ideology, and vision of an egalitarian society.

Residents who attended the screenings praised the Punjab Government’s initiative, describing the documentary as a meaningful tribute to Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. They said such programmes would help strengthen social harmony while encouraging younger generations to connect with the lives and teachings of the great Sikh Gurus.

Village panchayat representatives, social workers, religious leaders, and a large number of local residents were present during the screenings.

Screenings Scheduled for July 21

The documentary will be screened at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the following villages:

  • Samana Block: Kartarpur and Gobindpura
  • Nabha Block: Sadhoheri and Ladhaheri
  • Sanaur Block: Balbera and Bilaspur
  • Rajpura Block: Sural Kalan and Sural Khurd
