Longowal/Sunam, July 21: The new team of Municipal Council Longowal formally assumed charge today in the presence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Aman Arora. On this occasion, Mrs. Rachpal Kaur (wife of Sardar Balwinder Singh) assumed charge as President, Sardar Kuldeep Singh Bunty as Senior Vice President, and Mrs. Karamjit Kaur (wife of Sardar Gurjeet Singh Kala) as Vice President.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and all the councillors and called for giving top priority to public service.
Addressing the ceremony, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that the new team’s biggest responsibility is to live up to the trust the city residents placed in the Aam Aadmi Party in the municipal council elections. He said that the opportunity to serve, granted by the people and God, should always be fulfilled with public interest and honesty.
He said that the development work carried out throughout the Longowal Assembly constituency over the past four and a half years is the result of teamwork and public cooperation. This pace of development will now be further accelerated to make Longowal a model city in terms of development.
Aman Arora stated that the Municipal Council is the most important organ of local government and is primarily responsible for ensuring basic amenities related to people’s daily lives. He directed the new team to prioritize improvements in city cleanliness, uninterrupted drinking water supply, sewerage systems, streetlights, door-to-door garbage collection, and other civic amenities.
He said the Municipal Council must work with foresight to plan for the city’s future, outline new developments, expand public amenities, and create a well-organized city plan. He appealed to all officials, employees, and elected representatives to work with a team spirit.
The Cabinet Minister stressed that there should be no discrimination against any citizen in the Municipal Council on political, social, or any other grounds. Every person’s legitimate work should be done without hassle, without corruption, and with complete transparency. He said this is the working style of the Aam Aadmi Party and the policy of the Punjab government.
Aman Arora stated that it is his heartfelt desire that the Longowal Municipal Council distinguish itself among the best municipal councils in Punjab due to its excellent management, clean administration, and people-centric approach. He added that when the intention is clear, the team is dedicated, and there is a passion to serve the people, no goal is difficult to achieve.
Addressing all the councillors, he said that every elected councillor is as responsible for the people of their ward as the village head. He assured them that he and the Punjab government will always stand with the Municipal Council in carrying out the people’s legitimate needs and that there will be no shortage of funds for development projects.
On this occasion, newly appointed President Mrs. Rachpal Kaur, Senior Vice President Sardar Kuldeep Singh Bunty, Vice President Mrs. Karamjit Kaur, all councilors, party leaders, Municipal Council officers and employees and a large number of city residents were present.
