Chandigarh: The Health and Family Welfare Department of Punjab has taken an important decision to bring transparency in office work and remove problems. According to the orders issued by the Director Health Services, from today, July 1, all office work of all Civil Surgeon offices of the state will now be done through the e-office portal. Under this new online system, in the first phase, files related to leaves, complaints and court cases will be sent directly from the Civil Surgeon office to the Director’s office through e-office.
After this, in the next phase, the disposal of promotions, NOC, MACP, financial matters and other important administrative files will also be done through this system. To implement this system properly at the district level, all Civil Surgeons have been instructed to nominate an officer or employee with technical knowledge of computer from their respective offices as a master trainer who will train the rest of the staff.
The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association has welcomed this step of the department and said that it is a major administrative reform which fulfills the long-standing demand of doctors. This will eliminate unnecessary delays in the office and relieve the medical officers from the hassle of doing their work, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability in the entire system.
