Amritsar, June 27 ( ) – With the aim of making the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign being run by the Punjab Government more effective, the Nasha Mukti Morcha today organized a ‘Village Hall with the Chief Minister’ program at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hall of Guru Nanak Dev University. Volunteers of the Majha wing of the Nasha Mukti Morcha participated in this event in large numbers. On this occasion, Punjab Public Works Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO, Attari MLA Mr. Jaswinder Singh Ramdas, Amritsar West MLA Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu, Madam Sonia Mann, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Pallavi Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Surinder Singh, SDM Amritsar-1 Alka Kalia, Majha Zone In-charge of the Nasha Mukti Morcha Dixit Dhawan, ADCP JS Sandhu, SP Apart from Gurjit Pal Singh, other administrative and police officers were also present.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on how to further advance the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign being run by the Punjab Government with greater effectiveness and public participation. During this, emphasis was laid on increasing awareness at the village level for the eradication of drugs and connecting every section of the society with this campaign.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that all the volunteers of the Nasha Mukti Morcha should work with full dedication to make the state drug-free. He said that the volunteers of the Nasha Mukti Morcha are the warriors who are fighting a big battle to make the state drug-free.
He appealed to the volunteers to immediately share the information received about drug smugglers and any illegal activity related to drugs with the police department so that effective action can be taken against the drug smugglers. He said that the Punjab government is working with full determination to eradicate drugs and this campaign will be intensified further.
He said that the cooperation and social participation of the people are very important for the creation of a drug-free Punjab and every citizen should be a part of this public interest campaign. He said that this campaign is not only the government’s but the joint responsibility of the entire society.
On this occasion, Majha Zone Incharge of the Drug Detox Morcha, Dixit Dhawan said that all the volunteers of the Drug Detox Morcha are going to every ward of the village and city and mobilizing the people against drugs. He said that under the instructions of the Punjab government, the volunteers of the Drug Detox Morcha are making the war against drugs campaign a people’s movement. On this occasion, other speakers also shared their valuable views.
